The spirit of service and springtime joy filled the air at the Summerlin Area Command, where an egg-cellent team of community volunteers came together to make our annual Easter event a huge success. With nearly 9,000 colorful eggs stuffed and ready for distribution, this was a celebration of togetherness, generosity, and the positive impact we can create when we rally behind our police and our community.
Thanks to the LVMPD Foundation’s coordination and generous donors’ support, the Easter-themed event was fully funded—proving once again that when we invest in community engagement, everyone benefits.
Volunteers from organizations including the Brett Torino Foundation, BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse, Lexicon Bank, Anthem Medicaid, Caesars Foundation, the Battle Born Republican Women, and our dedicated LVMPD Volunteers joined forces to make the magic happen.
But beyond the fun and festivities, this event highlights something even more meaningful: the power of community involvement in supporting public safety.
By stepping in to support events like this, our volunteers free up valuable time and resources for law enforcement officers to focus on their essential duties. When community members take the lead in organizing, preparing, and executing large-scale events, it allows officers to engage in meaningful interactions with the public—conversations, laughter, and shared experiences that help bridge gaps and build trust.
This is what “humanizing the badge” looks like: a neighborhood police officer crouching down to hand an Easter egg to a wide-eyed toddler; a family chatting with officers about what it’s like to serve; a young person realizing that the men and women in uniform are not just protectors, but partners.
These are the moments that matter—and they’re only possible because of the dedication of people like you.
