YOUTH SPORTS PROGRAMS

Empowering Youth through Sports

The LVMPD Foundation is dedicated to supporting youth sports as part of its mission to foster strong community engagement. By empowering local programs and creating opportunities for young people to thrive through athletics, we help build safer neighborhoods and brighter futures. Our commitment to youth sports programs ensures that every child has a chance to succeed on—and off—the field.

We champion youth sports initiatives like Bolden Lions Football Club and Heroes United Hockey, where kids learn teamwork and stay active while building strong relationships with local law enforcement. These programs help humanize the badge and help young people see officers as mentors and role models, fostering trust and understanding early on. The connection contributes to safer neighborhoods and a more united community overall.

Some of the programs we support include:

BOLDEN LIONS FUTBOL CLUB

The Bolden Lions Futbol Club is more than just a soccer team. It’s a lifeline for at-risk youth in our community. The LVMPD Foundation supports this free, competitive soccer program, which is open to boys and girls ages 14–18.

For many of these young people, the Bolden Lions Futbol Club is their first step toward a brighter future. Players are held to high standards, including maintaining a 2.5 GPA, and are surrounded by mentors who believe in them. Officers become coaches, role models, and trusted allies, offering more than athletic guidance; they offer hope.

Through this powerful connection, participants are introduced to opportunities many had never imagined — college athletic programs, trade schools, and career pathways. This program shows them what's possible when someone cares enough to invest in their potential. Together, we’re building stronger players, kids, families, and neighborhoods.

HEROES UNITED HOCKEY

Heroes United, a group of law enforcement officers from various agencies, runs a Hockey Program at Liberty Baptist Church. Beyond drills and games, fifteen children experienced firsthand LVMPD's ICARE values of integrity, courage, and respect through officer-led discussions. The LVMPD Foundation is proud to support this program to mentor youth through sports, shaping character both on and off the court.

COMMUNITY FLAG FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT

The LEEAP Community Flag Football Tournament brings together youth from across the valley for friendly competition that promotes sportsmanship and healthy living. Supported by local officers and volunteers, this event strengthens community ties through athletic engagement.

PARTNERSHIP WITH UFC

The LVMPD Foundation partnered with UFC to give 16 high-risk girls from South Central and Bolden Area Commands an empowering experience at the Wrestle Like a Girl clinic during UFC X Fan Fest this weekend! From ages 5 to 18, these young girls had the chance to build confidence, learn new skills, and be inspired by strong female role models in and out of the ring.
