Hidden Heroes Black & White Gala: Honoring Those Who Work Behind the Scenes

Some of the most impactful work in public safety happens out of the spotlight.

The Hidden Heroes Black & White Gala was created to recognize the professionals whose dedication strengthens public safety and community trust every day, often without public recognition. Inspired by our founding partner and Diamond Level Sponsor, The Gratitude Project, this signature event celebrates service, leadership, and the quiet commitment that keeps Southern Nevada strong.

This year, the LVMPD Foundation is proud to honor the LVMPD Public Information Office.

The Voice, The Lens, The Bridge

Reporting directly to Sheriff Kevin McMahill, the Public Information Office serves as a critical connection point between law enforcement, the media, and the public. The team manages nearly 1,000 inquiries each month, ensuring information shared with the community is timely, accurate, and accessible.

From coordinating press briefings and responding to major incidents to preparing public updates and releasing body-worn camera footage, PIO plays an essential role in maintaining transparency and clarity when it matters most.

But their impact does not stop there.

Behind the scenes, their photographers and digital media specialists document the defining moments of Metro. They capture graduations, community events, commendation ceremonies, and major citywide events. They produce training content, share real-time updates across digital platforms, and support recruiting efforts that bring the next generation of officers into service.

They also help tell the stories that highlight the heart of policing, including the monthly Good Ticket recognitions that honor officers who go above and beyond in serving the community.
