A Valley-Wide Show of Support: Las Vegas Honors Law Enforcement on Appreciation Day

The Las Vegas community came together in a powerful show of support for law enforcement during the LVMPD Foundation’s valley-wide Marquee Takeover in honor of National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day (LEAD).

At 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., iconic Strip resorts, downtown landmarks, neighborhood casinos, and digital billboards across Southern Nevada illuminated their marquees in blue with messages of appreciation. For five minutes at each activation, the Las Vegas skyline became a unified tribute to the men and women who serve and protect our community.

The evening activation coincided with a special celebration at the STRAT Observation Deck 108, where the LVMPD Foundation awarded the Top COP Contest Championship Belt to the winning Community-Oriented Policing (COP) team. Now in its second year, the Top COP Contest recognizes LVMPD teams that go above and beyond to build trust, strengthen relationships, and make a meaningful impact in the neighborhoods they serve.

National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day was established in 2015 to encourage public recognition of law enforcement officers nationwide. Through initiatives like the marquee takeover, the LVMPD Foundation continues its mission to foster positive relationships between officers and the community while supporting critical needs such as training, equipment, technology, and youth and community engagement programs.
