Extraordinary stories of courage—officers confronting active assailants, rescuing hostages, and saving lives in moments of crisis—will take center stage this fall at the 12th annual Sheriff Salutes the Best of the Badge Gala.

Hosted by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Foundation, this signature event takes place on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Wynn Las Vegas. It is the only night of the year where the Sheriff personally presents the department’s highest commendations, celebrating the remarkable bravery and service of LVMPD’s finest.

Honoring Las Vegas’ Heroes

This year, 49 officers and one K-9 will be recognized across 11 critical incidents, including:

  • First responders to the UNLV and Las Vegas Athletic Club active assailant attacks
  • A nine-hour hostage rescue mission
  • Life-saving interventions during suicidal crises
  • A Purple Heart recipient who survived a devastating motorcycle crash caused by a DUI driver while serving the community
  • Split-second decisions that protected lives during domestic violence calls, car fires, and other emergencies

In addition to the Medal of Honor, Medal of Valor, Purple Heart, and other distinguished commendations, the gala also highlights the Sheriff’s Honors Awards, including:

  • The Regina Coward Community Policing Award, recognizing excellence in community partnership
  • The Best of Staff Award, honoring outstanding LVMPD civilian personnel
