Few honors carry greater significance within the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department than receiving one of the agency’s highest commendations. Reserved for officers whose actions demonstrate extraordinary courage, selflessness, leadership, and dedication to service, these awards recognize those who have gone above and beyond in protecting the people of Southern Nevada.
The LVMPD Foundation will honor these exceptional men and women at the 13th Annual Sheriff Salutes the Best of the Badge Gala on October 10, 2026, at Wynn Las Vegas.
For more than a decade, Sheriff Salutes the Best of the Badge has served as the Foundation’s signature fundraising event, bringing together community leaders, business partners, and supporters to recognize excellence in law enforcement while investing in the future of public safety.
The evening will honor officers who have earned the department’s most prestigious commendations for acts of valor, lifesaving efforts, distinguished service, and outstanding achievement. Sheriff Kevin McMahill will personally present each honoree with their medal and share the stories behind their extraordinary actions.
In addition to recognizing sworn personnel, the gala will celebrate two distinguished awards that highlight service beyond traditional law enforcement duties. The Regina Coward Award for Community Service honors an employee whose commitment to serving others extends beyond the workplace, while the Sheriff’s Honor Award recognizes a professional staff member whose contributions have made a lasting impact on the department and the community it serves.
More than an awards ceremony, Sheriff Salutes the Best of the Badge offers guests a unique opportunity to hear firsthand accounts of courage, compassion, and dedication from those who serve our community every day.
Proceeds from the event support the LVMPD Foundation’s mission to strengthen public safety through investments in advanced training, critical equipment and technology, youth mentorship programs, and community engagement initiatives. These investments help ensure officers have the resources they need to meet evolving challenges while fostering stronger relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
Throughout the evening, guests will have opportunities to support the Foundation’s mission through exclusive auction experiences, Mystery Boxes, and other fundraising activities.
