Las Vegas Lights Up Blue for Law Enforcement Appreciation Day
Valleywide Marquee Takeover Honors Law Enforcement; Top COP Championship Belt Awarded During Private Donor Event
On Friday, Jan. 9, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) Foundation will lead a valleywide marquee takeover in honor of National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day (LEAD), uniting Southern Nevada in a visible show of gratitude for law enforcement professionals.
Iconic Strip resorts, downtown landmarks and businesses across the Las Vegas Valley will illuminate their marquees and digital billboards with messages of appreciation at 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., lighting displays blue in support of LVMPD and local law enforcement agencies.
That evening, the Foundation will also announce and present the championship belt for the second annual Top COP Contest during a private, invitation-only event hosted at the STRAT Observation Deck for members of the Foundation’s 100 Club Donor community. The recognition honors outstanding Community Oriented Policing (COP) teams for their dedication, innovation and service.
National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day was established in 2015 to encourage communities nationwide to recognize and thank law enforcement officers for their service and sacrifice.
While LEAD is officially one day, the LVMPD Foundation supports LVMPD year-round through initiatives that strengthen trust and connection between officers and the community, including youth programs, officer recognition efforts and community partnerships focused on public safety.
The public is encouraged to participate by viewing marquee displays throughout the valley, sharing photos on social media by tagging @LVMPDFoundation or using #LEADLasVegas2026, and by showing support through merchandise purchases or donations at LVMPDFoundation.org.
