Support Youth Sports Programs that Build Trust

February 5, 2026

With the Winter Olympics beginning this week and the Super Bowl just days away, sports are front and center. We celebrate teamwork, perseverance, and the moments that shape athletes along the way.

Those same values are being built every week right here in our community — not in stadiums, but on local fields and rinks.

At the LVMPD Foundation, we support youth sports and mentorship programs where officers spend consistent, meaningful time with young people. When Officers Arnold and Edwards hand out championship rings at a youth flag football tournament, it’s a reminder that teamwork and encouragement matter. When Officer Baldassarre kneels down to tie a child’s skates for the first time at Heroes United Hockey, that moment often becomes something much bigger than learning a new sport.

These interactions create trust. They allow kids to see officers outside of crisis situations — as coaches, mentors, and steady presences. Over time, those positive relationships help shape choices, confidence, and how young people view their community.

Youth sports and mentorship programs like these play an important role in strengthening public safety. By building trust early and consistently, they help create connections that last well beyond a season.

The LVMPD Foundation funds these programs through community support. Donations help cover uniforms, equipment, rink time, field fees, and participation costs — ensuring these opportunities remain accessible and ongoing.

Showing up week after week makes a difference. And when a community supports that consistency, everyone benefits.
