On January 9th, Las Vegas transformed into a sea of blue in honor of Law Enforcement Appreciation Day (LEAD). In a powerful display of community support, iconic resorts along the Las Vegas Strip, Downtown properties, and businesses across the valley joined together to illuminate their marquees, facades, and skylines. The event was a stunning tribute to the brave men and women of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) and law enforcement agencies everywhere.
As the sun set over the city, the lights began to shine brightly, showcasing messages of gratitude and appreciation for our officers. Phrases like “Honor Our LVMPD Heroes” and “Thank A Cop” lit up the marquees of world-famous properties, creating a striking visual that underscored the city’s deep respect for those who serve and protect.
The marquee takeover was the centerpiece of a special event for members of the Foundation’s 100 Club Donors program. We launched the 2025 100 Club campaign, a leadership initiative that provides support to LVMPD officers for equipment and technology, training, and community engagement. The campaign reflects the collective commitment of donors and community members to stand behind law enforcement, ensuring they have the resources they need to serve effectively.
During the event, LVMPD Deputy Chief Chris Holmes highlighted how the Foundation’s pillars of support intertwine with Metro’s mission. He emphasized the increasing role of technology in modern policing and shared a compelling example: the Cybertruck explosion at Trump Towers. Thanks to the expertise of LVMPD Forensic Investigators, they were able to crack into a cell phone and gain valuable information about the cause of the incident. This story exemplified the critical need for advanced resources and the important role donors play in supporting this mission.
Another highlight of the event was the recognition of the Spring Valley Area Command as the 2025 Top COP Team, celebrating their exceptional performance and dedication to the community. Their accomplishments remind us of the extraordinary efforts of all LVMPD personnel.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the businesses, resorts, and properties that participated in the marquee activation. Your support didn’t just light up the city; it amplified a message of unity and appreciation that resonated throughout Southern Nevada. Your involvement was a shining example of how we, as a community, can come together to honor and support those who protect us.
To everyone who joined us in celebrating Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, thank you for making it a day to remember. Together, we are building a stronger, safer community—one that values the service and sacrifice of our law enforcement officers.
