The Foundation’s Good Ticket program provides citizens the opportunity to nominate LVMPD officers and recognize their positive actions in the community. The program was designed in 2019 in collaboration with Sydney Ramenofsky, who as a member of Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada proposed that police have an opportunity to hand out Good Tickets to civilians for doing something good and not just only when they’ve done something wrong. It has since become a way for the public to recognize and support officers who, day-in and day-out, work hard to keep our community safe.
The 2022 Good Ticket program is sponsored by Resorts World Las Vegas and will present the first of ten staycation packages to two officers who showed that humanity is part of the job. LVMPD Officer Kristopher Hibbetts helped and comforted a 2022 Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathoner who fell in front of the resort and suffered a serious injury. And Officer Jennifer Parker furnished an apartment for a woman who had been homeless. In June, Officer Sam Wittwer was recognized for providing Lunchables to children who live in high-crime apartment buildings. Over the summer, Michael Garces and Ricardo Lara received their Good Tickets for providing clothing and dignity to an unhoused man. In the fall, Officers Marizela Razo and Rebecca Mauga were awarded tickets for mentoring a group of girls who did a 5K, and Officers Casey Hausman and Carl Loskill befriended a young homeless man and got him into recovery.
“The Good Ticket is a vehicle for the members of this great community to show their support for LVMPD and the strong partnership that exists between the public and Metro,” said Tom Kovach, executive director of the LVMPD Foundation. “We thank Resorts World Las Vegas for encouraging community support for law enforcement.”
The Good Ticket program is part of an effort to encourage further support from the community for LVMPD through the LVMPD Foundation which raises funds to support and supplement LVMPD programs and initiatives including officer training, updated equipment and positive community engagement activities.
