This new initiative is a partnership between the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Foundation and the Urban Chamber of Commerce. The initiative is designed to support the Black community and impact public safety in frontline communities.
The LVMPD Foundation, in partnership with the Urban Chamber of Commerce, extends an invitation to you to become a member of the Black Giving Circle.
Your membership in the Black Giving Circle will enable relationships to be formed and further strengthened between the Southern Nevada Black community and LVMPD. The benefits of membership include invitations at special events, sponsorship of programs and events, and mentorship and volunteer opportunities with youth of color.
Working together, we can uplift the most vulnerable residents of Las Vegas by promoting positive connections.

The momentum has already begun and we are asking for your support to ensure it continues to grow with a multitude of programs, including:
- Sports programs are a great way to engage with young people. Through programs like Bolden Little League and Hockey United, mentorship and trust between officers and local children have grown into a partnership that makes a community safer for all.
- The Cooking with a Cop, Reading with Cop, and Conversations with a Cop are programs in partnership with the NAACP Las Vegas to create communication between young people and law enforcement. Is there a better way to get to know someone than break bread with them, share a good story, and have an open-minded civil conversation?
- Our Holiday Gift & Give program provides law enforcement an opportunity to give back to the communities they serve. Events like Santa Cop and Shopping with a Cop allow officers to take children on special shopping experiences to purchase toys and clothes and interact in a fun, positive way, uplifting spirits all around.
- The Summerlin Area Command’s recent Empowering Our Girls Workshop demonstrates the power and worth of young females in today’s society. Former WNBA Player and professional life coach Rushia Brown led a workshop for 50 girls, showing them that they can attain their goals with dedication and hard work.
- The Hip Hop & Entrepreneurship Program focuses on lifting youth of color through the creative process of hip hop and rap and education about the music industry. This program is offered to young people who may have made mistakes or are currently facing obstacles as they continue to strive for greatness.
With your support, the LVMPDF can continue to expand upon these popular programs, which have already proven successful. Bonds are being strengthened, residents are being impacted, and youth are being shown the promise of brighter futures. The continuous investment in our community by influential leaders like you allows LVMPDF to extend our services further. We need your support to prove that by working to better the relationship between the Black community and law enforcement, under-resourced areas can have more beneficial outcomes.
Your membership in the Black Giving Circle will allow us to maintain and grow programs like this and many others. Today’s investments in the community will help reduce crime tomorrow and demonstrate the effect that positive community-police engagement activities can have on communities of color.
