LVMPD Events Planning Section to be Honored as 2023 Hidden Heroes

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) Foundation and The Gratitude Project will host the Sixth Annual Hidden Heroes Gala on Friday, May 12 at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas to celebrate and recognize the LVMPD Events Planning Section (EPS).

The 2023 Hidden Heroes are the men and women of the LVMPD EPS who lead the development, exercise, and implementation of an operational plan for major events in Las Vegas to ensure a safe and secure environment for the public.  Though their work is unseen, these Hidden Heroes keep Southern Nevada’s economy thriving as they protect millions of visitors and hundreds of events each year.

Las Vegas is the destination for live events and sets a new standard for what entertainment and public safety mean to the city.   The entertainment scene is incredibly diverse, offering world-class events, including Raiders football, UFC, VGK Golden Knights hockey, Las Vegas Aces basketball, concerts, festivals such as EDC and Life is Beautiful, and future major events, including the inaugural Formula 1 Heineken Silver Las Vegas Grand Prix weekend and Super Bowl LVIII.

In planning and managing security for events that attract large numbers of people, LVMPD EPS coordinates with local and federal agencies to secure funding, manpower, equipment, and resources needed for community safety during a major event.  The LVMPD EPS conducts year-round multi-agency training operations to ensure all Southern Nevada first responders are capable to work in synchronization in the occurrence of an emergency.

Started in 2018 in collaboration with The Gratitude Project, the Hidden Heroes Gala benefits the LVMPD Foundation in raising important funds to support LVMPD programs.
