Congratulations to the ten recipients of the third annual Alyn Beck and Igor Soldo Memorial Scholarships.
Henderson Kia dealership owners Ron Coury and Don Tamburro of have once again generously donated $50,000 dollars to honor the two fallen LVMPD officers who died while on duty June 8, 2014. The funds pay tribute to the officers and all LVMPD personnel, in the form of funding for these higher education scholarships.
Ten amazing college-bound students have been selected from more than 50 outstanding applicants. All are members of the LVMPD family by way of their parents, and all serve as wonderful examples of the future of our community thanks to their community service and dedication to academics. The students will each receive a $5,000 scholarship which is based on their grades, community involvement, and focus on the future. They can use the funds to help offset costs for books, tuition, and school fees.
This show of support for college and college-bound students in the LVMPD family would not be possible without the extraordinary generosity of the owners of Henderson Kia, Don Tamburro and Ron Coury. “I’ve seen the dedication to our community by the men and women of LVMPD. I am proud to show my support for them, while fostering the futures of these remarkable young adults,” said philanthropist Ron Coury, who also serves on the Friends of LVMPD Foundation Board. The Foundation wants to thank Mr. Coury and Mr. Tamburro for their continued dedication to LVMPD, the Foundation, and our community safety. Building a strong future, and a safer community always takes a partnership.
