LVMPD Foundation Highlights Volume 1, Issue 2

Welcome to the end of 2020! While we certainly didn’t expect this year to be anything like it turned out to be, all of us at the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Foundation were determined to make the best of it. As your financial contributions continue to assist the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to keep our community safe, we hope you’ll enjoy reading about what we’ve been able to accomplish… even in the midst of this pandemic. We are blessed to have your support.

We know that our community’s most vulnerable populations have been having a very difficult time this year. With the loss of so many hospitality and other industry jobs, people need help more than ever. Throughout this year, starting at the beginning of the shutdown, the LVMPD Foundation has focused on funding initiatives that help our officers not only to provide protection for our community but also lessen the burdens of our residents.

Because of the assistance offered by our donors and supporters like you, the LVMPD Foundation has funded LVMPD’S community engagement programs to help even more families than usual these past several months including the Switch to Kindness Campaign, the back-to-school Backpack Initiative, the Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway, and the IKEA Holidays home makeovers. These efforts and many other projects looked very different from those of previous years but still had a tremendous impact on the lives of so many of our neighbors.

And, with programs like Unite for Heroism we have supported efforts to bring the public together to support the critical relationships between our officers and the people they serve especially communities of color.

Our sponsorship of these and many other community programs dedicated to children, safety, and education demonstrates that the Foundation, as well as the men and women of Metro who put these initiatives into action, continue to make a viable difference in Southern Nevada.

Again, thank you for helping our officers and the community they serve during these difficult times.

I hope you’ll enjoy reading about what you have made possible.

With warmest wishes for a safe and healthy New Year,

Tom Kovach
Executive Director
