Equipment and Training
Equipment and training funds enable LVMPD officers to have the safety equipment and resources they need to help them safe lives, and stay ahead of the criminals. From updated equipment like bullet proof vests for the SWAT team, to specialized safety or leadership training for officers, the donations to the Friends of LVMPD Foundation have helped keep our officers safer on the job, and better educated on the newest accepted methods to address law enforcement challenges.
Fallen Officers Assistance
Fallen Officers Assistance program makes sure the relatives of fallen officers are able to attend memorial services and recognition events during Police Memorial Week in Nevada and in Washington, D.C.
Funding has helped cover the cost of transportation and travel for these LVMPD family members.
Metro Volunteer Program
The Metro Volunteer Program or MVP’s include over 400 citizens dedicated to helping LVMPD by volunteering to hand out information at LVMPD offices, safety fairs, family events, school visits, annual National Night Out activities, First Tuesday informational meetings, and assist traffic control officers as needed. They volunteered thousands of hours to provide information to citizens, and enabled officers to focus on their jobs.
Every 15 Minutes Teenage Driving Program
Up close and powerful, the Every 15 Minutes Program encourages high school students to consider the impact of their actions when behind the wheel.
The Every 15 Minutes program took the lessons of drunk, drugged or distracted driving to our youngest drivers at four county high schools this school year. Students were active participants and saw first-hand the impact of bad driving.
Funding helps continue the often emotional and always informational drama played out at local schools.
LVMPD Area Command
LVMPD Area Command efforts have united neighbors with their community police through neighborhood cleanups, family resource events, outreach about drugs and gangs and youth crime, and monthly meetings to keep neighbors up to date on crime trends.
A community holiday tradition allowing hundreds of great children to select holiday presents for themselves and their families. Your generous donations bring smiles to the faces of dozens of children every holiday season and warm the hearts of their law enforcement shopping buddies.
