Las Vegas, NV, 2016
The Friends of Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Foundation is proud to announce we have selected 10 students to receive funds from the Second Annual 2016 Alyn Beck and Igor Soldo Memorial Scholarships. The higher education scholarships are funded thanks to a generous contribution from Henderson Kia and Henderson Mazda. Owner Ron Coury and his business partners have committed $50,000 for a second year, to fund 10 scholarships specifically for the children of current LVMPD commissioned police and corrections officers. The students can be high school seniors, or current college students.
The Foundation received submissions from more than 60 outstanding young adults from across our valley. “The caliber of applicants and their community involvement made that selection process very difficult again this year. These outstanding young adults all deserve to receive support for their higher education,” said Friends of LVMPD Foundation President Mike McClary.
This show of support for college bound students in the LVMPD family is thanks to the amazing generosity of the owners of Henderson Kia and Henderson Mazda. “I am proud to show my support for LVMPD officers in our community, while fostering the future of these remarkable young adults,” said philanthropist Ron Coury, who also serves on the Friends of LVMPD Foundation Board.
Ten students will each receive a $5,000 scholarship based on their grades, community involvement, and focus on the future. They can use the funds to help offset costs for books, tuition, and school fees.
Qualifying LVMPD family/student applicants must follow the GUIDELINES AS SEEN ON THE REQUIREMENTS PAGE found on the Foundation website: LVMPDfoundation.org, and send their application to Tom Kovach at the Foundation email: Scholarship@LVMPDfoundation.org by the evening of APRIL 15th, 2016.
